I really tried to put a lot of thought into my blogger name. I’m very big into names, sometimes a bit more than necessary! I even “collect” names, mostly “E” names & middle names. I’ve found that many people do put stock in their names & their names meanings. I considered “themomone” but that is NOT all that I am (even though it does feel like it some days!). “thewifeone” was definitely not an accurate description of who I am completely, either. thetallone is actually the one who came up with my name, & I have to say, he did a decent job! It’s not as limiting as the other names I considered. As for me, I’ve always really liked my given name. I know a number of people who like their first name, or their middle name, but not always both! I don’t always count a last name, since sometimes that can change…. 😉 I think a name is important, whether it’s the name your parents gave you @ birth, or one you find along the way. What do you think? Do you like your given name, or have a nickname you think suits you best?
Category: Randomness
the first (of many?!?)
Well, thetallone (aka Daniel) & I have been chatting about me blogging for awhile. He thinks it’s a super idea, though I am not so sure that so many people want to hear what I would blog about, I’m going to give it a try, anyway! I do think it’s only fair warning to let ya’ll know that the things I think that I’ll blog about the most will be kids/babies, my husband, and my life. I’m fairly certain that most people won’t find all I have to say interesting, but I hope that everyone can find something that is interesting from what I have to say! Oh, and ya’ll have to bear with me on this, since I have never blogged before, I’m in uncharted territory and trying something new. It might take me a bit to get used to it. 🙂
Comfort Zones
Think about this for a moment; how many times a day do you tell another human being on this planet that you are “doing fine”? Why is that? My immediate reaction at this point would be to call you a liar, but I won’t. More often than not it seems that this is my default setting no matter how I feel. I have come to the realization that people do this because there is this nebulous societal norm that tells us that is “comfortable” way to talk to other strange humans all around us. Therefore, we all accept this norm and continue about our daily routines not giving it a second thought. Continue reading “Comfort Zones”
Why so “busy”?
I have been wondering lately, and it seems like it keeps coming up, why are we so “busy”? You ever ask somebody how they are doing and they say “I’m ‘busy'”. Since when did “busy” become a reflection of the emotional state of our lives? “Busy” is something we do, not something we are.
“Busy” is an excuse not a reason. I say that because “busy” seems to be a way for me to become so preoccupied on a day-to-day basis that I am missing out on life. Like lately, I have been to “busy” to blog. I haven’t really been so preoccupied that I couldn’t sit down and write something for the great ether to diseminate, just that I didn’t want to make the time to do it. I that case, “busy” could mean lazy. Continue reading “Why so “busy”?”
It’s like a new toy…
I am not sure I should be quite this excited about finally having my website up, but I can’t help myself. I have been sitting on this domain for years with the intent of doing this one day. Well, here it is, here I am, and here I go. Hopefully as I develop this site it will provide us both with some laughs, tears and whatever else can come out of the blogosphere. My commitment to this right now is trying to write something every one to three days to start. I wouldn’t consider myself a writer by any stretch but I do like to write. I am a coder, I am a musician, I am a husband and a father, I am a gearhead and a movie junkie. As a former film student I am into movies of all kinds with sci-fi and action at the top of my list. I do work as a freelance graphic designer and web developer and will be getting some of my favorite creations up here soon enough. I invite you to join me on this journey, should be an interesting ride.
